New home-ish

Okay, so I'm kind of liking Tumblr more than blogger lately, so you'll probably find newer stuff over there:

Youtube Go!

So I've finally joined the Youtube ranks- I imagine most or all of my videos will be of the baby.  Anyone who knows me knows my feelings on being in pictures, much less video.
Here's Elinor laughing:

Five Months- Already!

So Elinor is 5 months today- I can't believe how fast the time has passed!  We had a doctor's checkup and she officially weighed in at 18lbs 10ozs and 27".  Apparently the breastfeeding is working (I had been originally thinking we were doing something wrong)!
She's been doing some fun stuff lately- namely grabbing at everything!  I'd also say I think now she really is teething, but I thought that a month ago and no teeth yet.
A pic of the grabby-goodness:

Elinor turned over!

Before:
After:

Her new thing is to close her eyes for most of the photos I take, so she looks sleepy in this one.
This rotation was an accident, but I suspect she's not far off of turning over on purpose.  Once that happens, I'm really in for it.

Wordle rocks!

So I know I don't have a ton of posts yet, but I couldn't resist seeing what I would get from wordle for the blog. Too much fun.
Not a whole lot else going on- I added some pics on flickr (see link in list to left) and will end up starting a facebook page some time in the near future. I couldn't resist the lure of the social networking sites forever... now I'll end up on all of them- sigh.

Heavy E

So I thought it would be neat to weigh Elinor on Saturday, seeing as she was exactly 4 months old that day. At her last checkup (3 months) she weighed 15 pounds 6 1/2 ounces. We used my mom's digital scale (the pic is for illustration purposes only- it says 15lbs because she needed help staying on the scale) and came up with a number I hadn't thought possible... 18 pounds even. She's nearly doubled her birth weight in 4 months, and that's saying something as she's gained 8 1/2 pounds. She's also grown 6 inches since birth, but that one didn't surprise me quite so much.
We're still waiting on the teeth, too. She's got two little white bumps on her bottom gum (would love to get a pic, but it's hard enough to see them without having to maneuver a camera as well) and they are making her a cranky-pants most of the time.

Which is also making me a cranky-pants most of the time.

Another baby post...

Ok, so now I'm sure E is teething. I had suspected it for a while, but the last two days really convinced me the little buggers are on their way. I knew teething babies can be more of a handful, but combine teething with being overtired and you get plank baby (think trying to hold onto a wiggly 2x4 that weighs 16lbs) who tries to chew on everything while crying. Whew. It's a good workout, though.

Not really anything interesting with me lately. I'm currently reading Coyote Dreams by CE Murphy and enjoying it- although the first in the series was better for me (Urban Shaman). Netflix has been a combination of Eureka and Chuck (both season one). Knitting has been nearly nonexistent. I finished the knitting on a Tomten jacket for E (by Elizabeth Zimmermann), but now I have so much sewing and weaving ends in I'll be lucky if I can get it done while she still fits in it. And then there is the issue of a zipper and possibly a button or two (which haven't been purchased yet). I *don't* sew buttons. I know they are supposed to be easy, but they just scare me for some weird reason. I'll knit with 10 different strands of color and not be afraid at all, but give me a button to sew and I'm all 'uh, couldn't we just leave it open?' or 'wouldn't an i-cord tie work?'...
